Although I call this breakfast smoothie, I have it after lunch and even after dinner most of the times. This smoothie is so refreshing and yummy. The strawberry imparts it’s beautiful flavour while the banana makes the smoothie creamy. My dad loves this smoothie and when it is strawberry season, I end up making it twice or thrice every week.
This smoothie can be made vegan too. Sometimes instead of the full milk version, I use half cup water and skimmed milk for the remaining quantity for a low fat version. It still remains creamy and thick. Now, I do that rarely. 😜
Here are a few benefits of strawberries-
Strawberries are an excellent source of vitamins C and K. They also provide us with a good dose of fibre, folic acid, manganese and potassium. They also contain significant amounts of phytonutrients and flavanoids which makes strawberries bright red. 😊
Ingredients: (Makes 4 big glasses like the ones in the picture)
- Fresh strawberries- 300 grams
- Ripe banana- 2 medium; peeled and chopped
- Yogurt- 100 ml
- Milk- 2 1/4 cups
- Vanilla extract- 1 teaspoon
- Sugar- 4 teaspoon
- Salt- a pinch
- Honey- 2 tablespoon
Make sure you use a large blender with about 1 litre capacity. Wash and remove the topmost part of the strawberries. Cut it in half and add to the blender. To it, add the chopped banana and puree until smooth. Add the other ingredients and blend until smooth and lump free. Smoothies are meant to be thick but if you want to make it thinner, add a little more milk. Check for sweetness as well and adjust accordingly using honey as the sweetener. Serve as it is or chilled.
For a vegan version– Just use almond milk or soy milk along with vegan yogurt.
