Crispy, spicy and filled with the sharp flavour of cheddar cheese these spicy cheddar crisps are perfect with any soup, stew or on their own as a snack and they are extremely easy to make!
Cheddar crisps are very easy to make and in fact you can make crisps with just about any hard or semi hard cheese like parmesan, gruyère. You can add any additional herbs of your choice to it, I like mine plain with a little chilli flakes. Also I use only a little bit of salt because cheddar is already salty.
Ingredients: (Yields 9-10 crisps)
- Grated cheddar cheese- 90 grams or 3/4 cup
- Plain flour- 1/2 teaspoon
- Chilli flakes- 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt- 1/4 teaspoon
Add all the ingredients to a bowl and mix gently. Preheat the oven to 170° C. Line a baking tray with parchment paper. You could also use a silicone mat. Add a tablespoon of the the cheese mixture on the parchment paper and spread it out evenly into 1 1/2 inch diameter rounds. Make sure the next cheese rounds are 2 inches away from the neighbouring ones because they spread while baking.
Bake in the oven for 10-11 minutes until golden brown. Allow it to cool in the tray for 5-6 minutes and then lift the crisps gently and place them on a kitchen towel or kitchen paper to remove the excess fat.
Store in airtight containers upto a week.
